It's a tribute to the express power of players like Ricardo and makers like Barbero and Esteso that when I hear it I forget about my entire cultural background and simply feel Sevillian.Only Paco Pena of the newer players interests me...the rest seem superficial and manic.I really intensely dislike the manic disco (non-Falseta)flamenco that so many play today. It certainly isn't an issue of (purity)-because who knows what that is?...but rather it's an issue of poetry...and with a Sabicas or a Ricardo, the quiet brooding introspection of the falsetas is like a juggernaut in contrast with the rasgueados...that lesves every aspect of me on fire and yet eerily sated...
